Author Interview with Anne James, Erotic Romance

Join us as we visit with Anne James in an old library. Anne is here this week to share a bit about herself and her debut novel, Mia. As we walk around the building, close your eyes and sniff the air; ahhh the smell of old and new books. Gotta love it!

There's a giveaway; details after the interview. Be sure to leave a comment and say hi to Anne

Anne James
Erotic Paranormal

J.A. McCorkle aka Anne James has always loved the supernatural and always dreamed of writing her own novel. She finally finished the first of what she hopes will be a long, long list of titles and is working on the second book every time she gets a chance.

Naughty Reader’s: Hi Anne! Thanks for inviting us to Mia's library. Nothing better than to be surrounded by books; wouldn't you say? Tell us a bit about yourself  that our readers might not know.

Anne:  I would like to say that I have some super exceptional part of me that no one knows about, but in reality…I’m just a writer who’s trying to make it in this crazy self-publishing world! I have a full time job, not counting the wife and mom job, and I fit writing and tweeting for other authors in as much as possible. Us writers have to help each other out!

Naughty Reader’s: What made you want to become a writer?

Anne: For pretty much my whole life I have said, “I should write one myself”! Finally with the encouragement of my family, I decided it was time. I think all of us have a story inside of us that just needs a little help getting out. Let’s hope there’s more where this one came from!

Naughty Reader’s: Please share a bit about your release Mia (The Bradshaw Clan) without giving away any spoilers. Congrats on your first book!

Anne:  In this story, my main character, Mia, lives a boring but secure life as a wealthy socialite. She isn’t unhappy, but she has no passion or excitement. She meets a potential client of her husband’s and everything changes forever. She is drawn to the handsome Lucas, but there is much she doesn’t know about his life. A pair of evil vampires attack Mia’s home in the middle of the night, hoping to find and defeat Lucas. The events of that night, change Mia’s world, but is it for the better or worse? You have to read it and find out!

Naughty Reader’s: Do you write under a pen name?

Anne:  Yes, I write under Anne James.

Naughty Reader’s: What types of hero or heroine do you like best?

Anne:  For my hero, I like the type of man (or in this case - vampire) that can be gentle when it applies, but always steps up when the need arises. For my heroines, I want a woman that while may seem soft, can rise to the occasion and stand on her own feet.

Naughty Reader’s: Tell us about a typical day in your life as a writer.

Anne:  My typical day…work! Then hopefully squeezing some writing in after the other responsibilities are taken care of. Not very exciting, but maybe someday I’ll just write and promote…but until then, this is it!

Naughty Reader’s: Do your books have a common theme or are they all different?

Anne: Well, Mia is the beginning of a vampire romance/erotica/horror series, but I’m also working on an historical erotica series that I hope to have released by the end of the year.

Naughty Reader’s: How long does it take you to write and then edit a story?

Anne:  Mia took around two years, but that mainly happened because I stepped away from it for long periods of time. As all writers agree (I think), developing a story can be an emotional experience. There has to be a determination to make it happen, and I lost that a few times along the way. I have it back now and it’s not going to take as long anymore. I hope!

Naughty Reader’s: Do you have to be alone to write?

Anne:  Alone? No, but I can’t carry on a conversation while I’m trying to get the words out! Once I start a scene, I really have to get it all down, or I lose the words!

Naughty Reader’s: How do you go about naming characters?

Anne:  I may be odd, but I ask friends and family to throw some names out and I chose the ones I think match the character I’ve already dreamt up. It’s worked so far!

Naughty Reader’s: Is it easier to write about the characters if you find pictures of them before you write or do you write then find character pictures?

Anne:  I think it probably is easier if you find the picture first, but I didn’t realize that when I started writing Mia. I’ve vowed to do it the other way from now on!

Naughty Reader’s: How do you pick locations for your stories?

Anne:  I try to think about what all is going to happen within the story, then I try my best to place it somewhere I am familiar with. I wouldn’t want someone to read it and say, “I’ve been there and there’s no place like that there!”

Naughty Reader’s: What are you working on now and what should readers be looking forward to from you in the future?

Anne: As I mentioned earlier, I’m working on a historical short story series featuring a passionate but inexperienced young woman who is introduced to the exciting world of erotic pleasures! I also have the second book in the Bradshaw Clan series close to finished. I’m hoping to get the short story out, before focusing on those wonderful sexy vampires again.

Naughty Reader’s: Where can readers find out more about you and your books?

Anne: I’m a member of the KDP select group, so the only place to buy my book is through Amazon.

Mia Harrington's life as a wealthy socialite is changed forever when a duo of deadly vampires attack her home in the middle of the night. Lucas Bradshaw, the handsome and powerful leader of a vampire clan, rescues Mia from the evil clutches of her attackers and vows that nothing will ever hurt this woman again. As Mia is exposed to the vampire world that she never knew existed, can Lucas really keep her safe? Especially when his clan is being threatened by the same vampires that attacked Mia?

As Mia recovers from that violent night, the attraction to the mysterious vampire leader grows. Will Mia be able to handle the intense attraction she shares with Lucas? Will he share more with her than he ever has shared with anyone before?

Excerpt:

Mia watched Lucas' emotions cross his face, knowing that he was second guessing his reaction and behavior. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and pulled his mouth down to hers.
Givine everything she had to the kiss and tilting her hips up toward his, she absolved all doubt from his mind with her actions.
Leaning on an elbow, he placed his other hand on her face, and settled his body more solidly against hers. Staring into her eyes, he concentrated controlling himself and not plundering her beautiful body. Slowly he withdrew from her heat, then gently pushed forward again.
The excitement from the intimacy of having her mouth on Lucas' body had not dissipated within Mia. Unwilling to accept the slow tempo, she frantically moved her hands over his body, pressing her hips closer to his, willing him to move faster.
Seeing the desperation on her face, Lucas increased his pace, intending to make this about Mia. Sliding his hand down between their bodies, he ran his finger over her distended clit, causing her to immediately raise her hips, seeking his fingers.
Trying to focus on her pleasure, though steadily becoming overwhelmed by being so deeply inside her, he continued his rhythmic ministrations, flicking his fingers back and forth over the bundle of nerves. Within seconds Mia felt her control shatter as her release consumed her body.
Watching her face, he knew the moment she reached her climax, and luxuriated in the feeling of her walls clinch tightly around his member. He pushed himself fully into her once more, before pulling completely out of her wetness. Confused at his sudden ending, Mia whimpered, but wasn't able to ask why because….
